  4. What an adorable family!! :) Just found you on Pinterest- thought I’d get some date ideas! My hubby and I have been married for almost 17 years and we have 3 kiddos. Dates are far and few between- I’d like to change that. Thanks for some new ideas! We can put the kids to bed and then spend some time in “Paris”. Love it!

  5. We just started a date jar…one date per week…we pull one every Sunday and do it that week! This week is cooking class! We added hot yoga (since neither of us do it), boxing, and watching the sunset at the beach with burritos:) We love that one because it’s cheap and quick, so babysitters aren’t saddled for a long time.

    Great list!

  12. Love these ideas. My boyfriend rides a motorcycle, and now he’s teaching me to ride, which makes for an entertaining afternoon. We also have a list of local National & State Parks we want to go see – 2 a month, when the weather is nice, a great ride on the bike and inexpensive. We also have a local Drive-In movie theatre that we love. (Yes, they still exist!) And 2 weeks ago for my birthday, we went out on a Dolphin Sunset Cruise for my birthday. Totally romantic and we DID get to see dolphins – and THREE babies!

  14. For my fiancee and I’s 2 year anniversary I set up a scavenger hunt around town that ended in a moonlight pick-nick. Another one we really enjoyed was taking a map and with two colored markers picking all the places in the world we want to go together. Its really great to do things where you are facilitated to dream together :) Thank you for all these great ideas!!

  17. Thanks for some really great AND affordable ideas – diapers and formula are expensive! A few more: 1) If you have a truck, find an open field to park in, load up the bed with sleeping bags/blankets/pillows and stargaze. 2) Snow tubing! (our first date – obviously a success) 3) Aquarium, 4) Set up a campfire in your backyard, make smore’s, cuddle and talk about something other than the kids. Thanks again Susie!

  19. I thought of one you might add. “go geocaching”. If you haven’t heard of it, google it and check it out! It can be something fun that doesn’t cost much (except perhaps gas and about $10 for an app) and it is adventurous! My husband LOVES geocaching. It’s like the world becomes a scavenger hunt. Thanks for the list! Good ideas on here!

  20. These are super cute! We don’t have a lot of family in the area and we tend to be very selective on who we let watch the kids (no strangers) which generally means we don’t get out much by ourselves. Instead of going out, we’ll fix the kids a favorite dinner and put them to bed a little early and pick up some take out or cook an elaborate meal together and snuggle up on the couch with a movie or favorite show. We’re pretty budget conscious so when we do go out without the kids we swap date night child care with some friends of ours that we know and trust (and know could use a night out too!) Something we’ve found fun, and different, is going to the shooting range. Archery or guns, it’s fun, exciting, different, and interesting if you’re the competitive type! P.S. (while I LOVE the idea, and use it for family dates with our kids, 14 and 30 are the same :) )

  22. Great ideas! My husband and I have been together almost 6 years (since age 15; married for 3 years) Our first date was adventure landing then we goofed around Walmart. About once a year we relive that first date and act like teenagers again. It’s fun to catch up and to go to Walmart and not buy pull ups :)

  23. I have been married 24 years, almost 25, some of the things we like to do, walk a nature trail, sit by the river and watch the sunset, go boating, go to an auction, garage sale, once my hubby gave me 5$ and 5 minutes to go into dollar tree and buy 5 items for our “lunch”, each item had to start with a letter in my name! so fun. we have taken ballroom dance lessons, chuck e cheese to play the arcade games, watch a local high school football or baseball game. have another couple over for kinnect. One of the most important dates we take each year is to getaway for our anniversary. no kids, just us. and even though sometimes we didnt have much money, we made it happen if only one night. It has kept us strong, even when it was not an easy year. I didn’t always want to leave the kids, but I am so glad we did. they are all grown and out of the house now. and I am still in love with my man of 24 years!

    • Thank you 4 this list… In a huge rut after 19 years and try so hard to find things to do for little or no $$ and feel like we did something meaningful… Had just made a chalkboard paint pot 4 <3 requests for the whole family. This nest's with that project so well!!!!

  25. I love your ideas! My fiance and I took some family pictures at the playground and now one of our favorite getaways is the swingset! Anything to make you feel like there’s not a care in the world! It sparks up old memories of elementary school and some funny conversations!

  26. This list was so much fun to read through! My boyfriend is in the army so ideas like these are perfect for when he comes home :) One that is super simple is of course watching the stars in the bed of the truck or on top of the car. But a little spin is buying a kiddie pool for two, fill it up with blankets and pillows and your suddenly warm and comfy and aren’t laying in the bed of a truck. =] Just thought you might like it :)

  27. These are some really great ideas! My hubby and I had date night last night where we cooked smores in the fireplace. It was really fun and romantic on such a cold night. Another site that has lots of great ideas is http://www.datenightdare.com. It is brand new but what I love about it is that you get a challenge card. When you finish the date night challenge, you pass the card on to someone you don’t know so they can enjoy an easy and cheap date night too. I know we can all use them! It is a neat idea. It keeps our new marriage fresh. We also come up with “dates” to do in the car. Usually they involve different conversation topics. I am so ready for another date night!
